I upgraded the webserver from RedHat 7.2 to Debian after finally figuring out how to install Debian on Soft-RAID and boot from it. It was a task I actually wanted to tackle two years ago but did leave it because of the mentioned RAID-problem… time flies.
It did take much longer than anticipated because all of a sudden the Apache webserver didn’t want to serve https anymore. Took me hours to figure out that mod_ssl was compiled in an the “IfModule mod_ssl” and “IfDefine SSL” directives didn’t have any effect anymore. Oh well, at least I’m richer by another experience now.
There’s still some clean-up work to be done. And the hard-disks have to be moved into the correct machine… so expect some more downtime soon. But after that I think it’s done for at least another year.
